The Importance of Training : ISOH

Is your Company doing its best when it comes to Health & Safety Training?

It is vital that workers receive relevant and interesting training in order to avoid accidents in the workplace, according to the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

During a meeting of the South Downs branch, the group chair Steve Andrews noted the importance of engaging with employees when discussing health and safety procedures.

"Employers have a responsibility to make the information interesting and effective, but to do this it must be relevant and interesting for workers," Mr Andrews argued.

He added that one way to make this kind of data more accessible is to present employees with the real-life consequences of their actions.

Dramatic practice situations can also help employees take on board the importance of health and safety in the workplace, the South Downs chairman suggested.

The Health and Safety Executive recently warned companies that not providing their employees with the correct levels of training can have a serious effect on worker wellbeing.
